Novice B2 win B Finals at Hawkesbury Tournament!

After a hard fought tied game in the tournament opener, the Metcalfe Jets Novice B2 team came back in their final game of a three-game match up to win against the Stittsville Rams and take the title as the Novice "B" Champions in the Hawkesbury Tournament on January 14th.

In their first game against the Val des Monts Coyotes, the Jets had their work cut out for them. End-to-end action in the first two periods resulted in many shots on net but no score. However, hard work and team effort paid off and Anthony Hone scored the first goal of the game. The Coyotes evened up the game shortly afterward and the first game ended tied 1-1. It was a great team effort with the Jets "Player of the Game" going to Andrew Carr.

The Jet's second game was also an exciting one with several chances at each end of the ice. The Cumberland Phantoms put forth a great effort, but in the end, some solid scoring, defence and goaltending won it for the Jets. The 4-0 win saw goals from Kylin Tobin, Andrew Carr, and Brendan Coyle. Connor MacKillop was named "Player of the Game" for his solid defensive play.

With a win and a tie behind them, the Jets prepared for the final game. After trailing 2-1 at the end of the second period, the Jet's turned on the power in the third to score 7 more goals, including a season-first for Joey Racine. The Jets took the final game with an 8-3 win. "Player of the Game" honors went to number 30, Brody Bellefeuille for his outstanding effort between the pipes. Goals by Cole Cassidy, Matthew Howell, Brendan Coyle, Andrew Carr and Kylin Tobin.

It was a great tournament and the team was very happy with the results of their hard work.....and of course the trophy got a few smiles too! Congratulations Novice B2!
