METCALFE TAKES HOME 3 BANNERS!!!

Atom B1 Title

It was an all Metcalfe final in for the Atom B1 banner. Both teams had successful seasons and battled hard to make it to the final. They had met in round-robin play and the game ened in a 3-3 tie. So they knew it was going to be close. Robin Thomas' B1 team got out to a early lead with a break away goal by Alex Thomas. Later in the 3rd they built on the lead with a rebound goal by Erika Piepjohn. That turned out to be the winner as Geo Scott's B2 team managed to get a late goal by Asher Fincham with the net empty, but ran out of time before they could tie it up. Nice job to both teams on another close fought battle and congratulations to the Atom B1 team for winning the banner.

PeeWee B1 Title

An exciting come from behind effort allowed Peter Smiley's team to send the game into overtime and eventually come away with the 3-2 win. After falling behind 0-2 in the first period the team didn't give up and kept battling. Eventually they were rewarded when Josh Pommainville scored from just over the blue line. Then on a short handed effort Carter Stinson got the second goal. In a back and forth overtime it was a strong effort by Bryson Munevar-Pelton to net the OT winner. Great job team on a successful season and championship finish.

Bantam B2 Title

For a team that had an up and down season, Derrick Boyd's B2 team finished strong. Going 3-0 in the round-robin play and a semi-final win put them in the finals against a strong Orleans team. Early into the second period the Metcalfe teams was down 3-1 with the only goal by Kiernan Scott. But then the Jets started to bring the pressure and scored 5 unanswered goals by Matt Williams, Darren Boyd(2) and David Smith(2) to take the game 6-3. This finished off the weekend for the MDHA taking 3 out of a possible 3 banners. Great Job!!!!
